Papers, 1862-1876.

This collection consists chiefly of letters George Robinson sent to his wife, Elizabeth, while serving in the army during the Civil War. The letters detail the Battle of Gettysburg, skirmishes around Kelly's Ford, Virginia, and guarding the railroad line at Elk River, Tennessee. He also discusses routine aspects of military service such as picket duty, drill, and camp life. The collection also contains letters that Robinson found in a forest in Tennessee that were probably written by a Confederate soldier.
